Remarkably, Ryan Garcia overcame Devin Haney by majority decision despite not meeting weight. However, this was a one-time event, and he declined to challenge The Dream again.
Garcia was asked about any subject following his victory over Haney at the Barclays Center, and he immediately attacked Gervonta Davis. Though Garcia claims “Tank” is scared of him and believes he won’t defeat Frank Martin nevertheless, Davis defeated him in 2023 by knockout.
Subsequently, as KingRy departed the arena in the van that would transport him to his hotel, he decided not to challenge Haney again and said he would consider facing IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis.
Garcia said, and given the strength of his hands, if it materializes, poses a greater challenge. He said,
“All right, let’s do it with Boots”
As per his usual practice, Garcia has been active on social media. He shared a video of the celebration that included him smoking a cigar, along with a picture of one of the occasions he sent Haney to the canvas with the comment “fear of the king”.
In addition, he accepted a challenge from networks to fight Conor Benn (23-0-0, 14 KOs) in London to end the day following his fight on April 20. In the message, he declared that his next fight would be to “save the children.”
Eddie Hearn is struck by Ryan Garcia’s father, who then makes amends
Another mishap occurred at the Barclays Center when Ryan Garcia’s father ran into Eddie Hearn. The British promoter was congratulating KingRy in a backstage interview when the fighter’s father interrupted him…
Speaking of the boxer who also represents and promotes bouts for Anthony Joshua, the former world heavyweight champion, Garcia’s father stated :
“That’s what you got. You’re a piece of sh*t,”
Hearn replied,
“Really? F*ck you, f*ck you, f*ck you,” “What are you talking about?”
