The Yankees are leading the Wild Card race in the AL as the season is approaching the halfway mark. It seems silly to think about the wild card so early in the season, but for the Yankees, it is never too early because they have had trouble keeping up with Boston the past couple of years.

Last year Boston and Tampa Bay made the playoffs in the AL. The $200 million Yankees stayed home and collected their checks. Tampa Bay and Boston are still strong and will be looking to keep the Yankees home in the postseason. It's possible that the 3 strongest teams in the AL are all in the AL East, and it is certain that one of those teams will have to miss the playoffs.

Indianapolis Colts 17 vs. San Diego Chargers 23

Lets state the obvious the Chargers don't need Ladainian Tomlinson anymore. They should cut him in the offseason and use that cap money for somebody else. Now with that being said that was a hell of a game. I am going to talk about the Colts first.

Peyton Manning is a great Quarterback and Tony Dungy is a great coach but simply put they are the Atlanta Braves of the National Football League. Manning has won his MVPs and his one Super Bowl, but in the back of your mind I think everyone knows he should have won more championships by now. Because Dungy is such a nice guy he is hard to criticize, but simply put he has not gotten the job done in a lot of these playoff games where the Colts were favored to win. In the end the Colts and specifically Peyton Manning will be more known as a great regular season team and QB who chokes in the playoffs.

You should be scared of the Chargers. They are playing with house money and regardless of who they play next week I will be hard press to find reasons not to pick them to win. Football is such a sport of momentum and who has more right now. Their defense sans for one play, played tremendously. Darren Sproles my goodness can you play a better game? He single handily kept the Chargers in the game. There were four or five plays where he simply would not be denied including the last play of the game.

I hate to say that I told you so, but I told you so. Rookie QB + Rookie Coach + Playing on the road against a team no one respects= Upset.

Edgerrin James should have never been benched. There is much to being a good NFL running back than running fast. I think Ken Weisenhunt understands that now. Edge showed he still has some gas left in the tank and he was the main reason why the Cardinals are moving on to the next round. If the Cardinals can muster any type of running game it makes them a dangerous team going forward. Nice game by Kurt Warner. You give him time and nice weather conditions and he will tear you apart especially against a defense in Atlanta which is ok, but isn't great. Brilliant game killing drive by the Cardinals.
