Do 49ers Want Michael Vick?

|

Just reading the sports news today, and I see the San Francisco 49ers interviewed Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson Friday morning for their open offensive coordinator position. You would think that's not a big deal, until you start connecting dots, and there are plenty.

More after the jump...

With all the NBA hype Tuesday night (Kobe's three, Lebron's triple double, etc.), just wanted to highlight something you rarely see on the NCAA side of things. Kentucky guard, Jodie Meeks had a remarkable game against Tennessee Tuesday night.

Homeboy dropped 54 points on TWENTY-TWO shots. He had 10 threes, and went 14/14 from the free-throw line. Breaking former Kentucky player, Dan Issel's record of 53 points 39 years ago. Meeks hot night was the highest individual scoring display since 1989.

I just watched the game again, and Meeks is practically unstoppable against Tennessee, and you can see the frustration all over the faces of the Volunteers. Earlier this season, Meeks scored 46 points against Appalachian State. He's the 4th leading scorer in the nation, and Meeks is clearly raising his draft stock with high-voltage games like this.

When I first saw it I thought for sure that he ran out of his own end zone. They never showed a reply or did Jeff Fisher challenged the call, so for the last two hours I have been searching for video proof and now we have it.

Thanks to ESPN's Axis technology we can definitely see that he did not step out of the end zone and in turn he avoids future "clownage" of Orlovsky proportions.

I have seen a lot of players make dumb plays in my lifetime, but this has to be right up there. The funny part is that you can tell Dan Orlovsky had no idea what was going on because he just kept running as if he had another 30 yards to backpedal. Even the ref was looking at him like:

Dan and Keith together again.

|

radio_e_kodp_412.jpgFor those who watched ESPN back in the 1980's, saw Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann become the pioneers to combine sports and pop culture which is now the staple of what sports reporters do today. Now over twenty years later, they will reunite on Football Night in America on NBC this fall. I have to admit Jerome Bettis is the only person on that show I actually can deal with the others seem to bother me for the most part although Bob Costas isn't too bad. It should be interesting to see all these personalities mix it up now that Dan Patrick is thrown in.
