#1 mistake Brandon Jennings made was being friends with Joe Budden. If you are going to be a NBA star you can definitely do better than Joe Budden as your "hip hop" buddy. Having Joe Budden as your Hip Hop sidekick just screams out you are destined to be the 9th man on an eight man rotation team.
#2 mistake and this is up for debate, but regardless if Jennings knew he was being taped or not you can't be recorded by a rapper who claim to fame is not his lyrics, but by putting his girl's ass on camera.
*Sidenote* I respect that hustle. Keep yourself in the spotlight anyway you can even if that means exploiting your girlfriend's booty.

So I am checking out my Twitter direct messages (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline) and I have one from my friends over at Sporting News First Cuts (http://www.twitter.com/FirstCuts) telling me about the Joe Smith "Mixtape Thing".
So I am thinking that Joe Smith maybe started a record label or he is dabbling in some producing. I was sorely mistaken. Joe Smith is the actual rapper. He goes by the rap name Joe Beast (at least it isn't Lil Joe) and yes this is the same Joe Smith that was drafted #1 by the Golden State Warriors in 1995. The same Joe Smith who cost the Minnesota Timberwolves 14,000 draft picks. The same Joe Smith who is currently coming off the bench for the Cavaliers.
Here is the shocking part of the story you can listen to the mixtape for free here and honestly after listening to a couple of tracks it isn't that bad.
That probably says more about the state of rap music than Joe Beast skills, but I digress. If you have a few minutes give it a listen.

I use to ride the city bus to High School many years ago. My mom use to drop me off at the bus stop early in the morning and I would have to wait for a few minutes before the bus came. There was a homeless drunk who use to hang out at the bus stop. He was a harmless old man, but he had a lot of philosophies about life that I remember to this day. One day he was telling me about the decisions you make in life and he said this:
"The direction of your life is dependent on the decisions you make or the decisions people make for you. In your lifetime you will have many fork in the road decisions some big, some small but whichever way you go you will always wonder what would have happened if you went the other way."
Joe Frazier October 1st 1975 Manila, Philippines end of the 14th round. Frazier already half blind in the left eye, right eye closed completely begs his trainer Eddie Futch to let him continue the fight. Watch the video and you see a battered and bruised Frazier saying "No" and "I want him Boss" as Futch is telling him he is stopping the fight. Unbeknown to Frazier or Futch, his opponent Muhammad Ali wanted to quit. Unlike Frazier who wanted to continue Ali was begging his trainer Angelo Dundee to cut his gloves off and was refusing to come out for the 15th round.
There is only one minute between rounds. Funny how just a minute can change a life. Dundee wouldn't let Ali quit, Futch made the decision for Frazier to quit and that decision still resonates throughout the world today.

Lebron continues to amaze me with his performance on and off the court. If you havealready witnessed his underhanded half court shot he banked before going on to kill the Memphis Grizzlies 99-78, I know you feel me 110%.
Joe Johnson thinks he can take a shot at seizing King James crown for half man, half amazing shots with a sit down three pointer that defies a little gravity of its own. The ease at which both men throw up the rock is equivalent to the urge to throw the Roc sign up when you hear Jay-Z "Give It To Me" or "Roc Boys"
Throw in Dwight Howard's Half Court Shot and Lebron got some serious contending to do!
THE CHALLENGER: JOE JOHNSON
VS
THE CHAMPION: LEBRON "KING" JAMES

Also traded earlier, the Boston Celtics sent little-used Sam Cassell to the Sacramento Kings for a future second round draft pick in 2015. Cassell who hasn't played a game with the Celtics this year, has taken the role of player-coach to mentor the younger Rajon Rondo and Gabe Pruitt. It is unknown whether or not the Kings will keep him or waive him.
In Phoenix, sources are also saying that with Alvin Gentry taking control of the Phoenix Suns, the run-and-gun Suns will be put into effect, thus making Stoudemire valuable to the Suns. It is likely that the Suns will no longer trade him before the deadline.
There's also a lot of talk about a Vince Carter/Tracy McGrady reuniting in Houston...could it be too late?
The NBA trading deadline is this Thursday.

It features Rip Hamilton, Carmelo Anthony, Joe Johnson and Chris Paul.
Check it out. It's unreal. It also features Jordan's new sneakers, the Jordan 2009. See if you can spot it. For pics of the Jordan 2009, see an older post on my blog. This has got to be one of my favorite Jordan commercials in this series that doesn't feature Jordan himself.

CHECK OUT THE 1ST 12 SECONDS OF THE COMMERCIAL
This Sunday, Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu, one of football's most electrifying players, takes on the starring role in "Mean Troy," a new Coke Zero ad that puts an unexpected twist on the iconic Coca-Cola "Mean Joe Greene" commercial.
On February 1, nearly 100 million fans watching NBC's broadcast of Super Bowl XLIII
will see Polamalu shine on the field, but one of the Pro Bowl safety's biggest hits of the day may come in the first Coke Zero ad ever to air during the Super Bowl telecast. In the 30-second spot, Polamalu reprises the part made famous by Pittsburgh Steelers legend "Mean" Joe Greene, but in true Coke Zero style, he takes the role in an entirely different direction.
The first 12 seconds of the new Coke Zero spot are certain to cause double-takes as they mimic the look of the original ad. The scene opens with Polamalu limping down a tunnel to the locker room, followed closely by a young fan who offers an ice-cold Coke Zero to his battered hero. All similarities end there as the action takes a surprising turn to humorously reinforce that with Coke Zero, it's possible to have "Real Coke Taste and Zero Calories."
"The Coca-Cola 'Mean Joe Greene' ad is one of the most famous commercials of all time, so I was blown away when they asked me to be in this new spot," said Polamalu. "Following Joe's performance is tough, but because my Coke Zero ad has a totally unpredictable twist, we got to put a new spin on it. We're keeping the ending a surprise, but I think people will get a kick out of the intensity I display to get my hands on the real Coke taste of Coke Zero."
Tuesday night, I wrote a quick story about Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby of the Atlanta Hawks wearing commemorative shoes by Nike of the presidential inauguration.
Well, Nike didn't want the public to go without, but they are available on a very limited basis. NikeBlog.com has the details of the limited availability of the new Air Jordan Pure Pressure, Inauguration Edition shoes.

More after the jump...
Not long after the Atlanta Hawks watched the inauguration of our 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, two of them were fitted with special shoes, courtesy of Nike.

When I first saw it I thought for sure that he ran out of his own end zone. They never showed a reply or did Jeff Fisher challenged the call, so for the last two hours I have been searching for video proof and now we have it.
Thanks to ESPN's Axis technology we can definitely see that he did not step out of the end zone and in turn he avoids future "clownage" of Orlovsky proportions.
Before we get to what everyone else will be talking about tomorrow I will tell you the play that really won the game that everyone will forget. I make no secret that I don't like a lot of the mainstream sports writers, but one that I love is Gregg Easterbrook of ESPN and hisTuesday Morning Quarterback. One of the things Mr. Easterbrook preaches is that when you get for it on 4th and 1 you show your team that you have confidence in them and also the chances of success are much higher that you win the game.
The Titans were down 10-7 but had been moving the ball easily all day. Only their own turnovers and penalties had been slowing them down (more on that later). The Titans once again drove into Ravens territory in the 4th quarter and faced a 4th and 1. Dan Dierdorf who is absolutely is one of the worst color commentators in the NFL barked out that the only decision was to bring out the field goal team which is exactly what Jeff Fisher did. In the immortal words of Mr. Easterbrook I wrote in my notebook:
The Titans who blew chance after chance had an opportunity to win the game but decided to play it safe but the playoffs aren't for punks they are for risk takers. By playing safe they doomed themselves for failure. Get the yard, punch in the TD and break the spirits of the Ravens. What happened was the Ravens were energized by dodging another bullet and went on to win the game. The lesson here:
IF YOU SCARED GO TO CHURCH
With that being said the refs did help out the Ravens with a horrible blown call which should have been a delay of game penalty and turned into a critical completion from Joe Flacco to Todd Heap.

I have screamed, yelled, whispered, written and even mentally sent my thoughts across the country via telepathy, but once again I will say it again and this time in very bold letters:
When you are a super talented and gifted boxer you only have two options to go when you get knocked out. You either get up and become a warrior or it's over.
Muhammad Ali got up and became a warrior. George Foreman became a preacher for 10 years.
Roy Jones Jr wasn't just better than everyone he fought he was so much better he rarely lost rounds. He went years without losing a round. He truly was superman. But when Superman got hit with his kryptonite he was never ever going to be the same. When that seed of doubt was planted in his mind RJJ was more interested in not getting knockout as oppose to winning fights. When you have spent your entire career being more physically gifted than anyone and those physical gifts erode you don't know how to react.
