Some good news for your Monday Tony Kornheiser is out of the ESPN Monday Night Football booth to be replaced by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden (I will fight the urge for the Chucky references because everyone is going to be using that today).

Love Tony Kornheiser on PTI and on radio, but he was a disaster on Monday Night Football. I understand they wanted to interject some personality into the broadcast, but there were times last year that I am sure 60% of the viewing audience was watching on mute. If it wasn't for Ron Jawroksi there wouldn't have been any reason at all to watch.

Let me talk about Brady Quinn a minute before I get to Tony. He didn't play that great last night and he has played ok in his first two games as a starter. The most important thing though as a young Quarterback is to take care of the ball and inspire confidence in your teammates. Quinn does that. He doesn't look rattled and he doesn't turn the ball over, so I see a lot of potential in him going forward.

Now with that being said Tony really needs to stop it. It was once again sickening listening to him basically carry Quinn's water for the entire game. It is a pattern that Tony has shown since he came on the Monday Night Crew if he falls for a player he falls for them hard to the point he can no longer be objective. It is almost like an obsessive school boy crush. Every pass Quinn made bad or good came with overtop hyperbole that just was hard to watch after awhile. I am convinced that Ron Jawrokski who is good friends with Tony seriously wants to choke him sometimes. Please someone at ESPN do us all a favor and drop him from the telecast next year. I am begging you.

Let me preface this by saying that I think Tony Kornheiser is a great journalist and an engaging personality on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption. The chemistry and wit that he has displayed on the program with Michael Wilbon have entertained viewers for years. Unfortunately this has not crossed over into Kornheiser's other job: Monday Night Football. As has been said by many before, Tony simply doesn't add much to the telecast. During MNF's telecast of the Titans-Colts game, Kornheiser made several disparaging remarks about the team and the city of Nashville in general. I'm fully aware of his ties to the Northeast and their belief that they are superior to other regions in the country, particularly the South. He seemed obsessed with characterizing the city as some country western outpost that lacked sophistication as well as being a small media market.

I am a big fan of Tony Kornheiser. I love PTI. I love his radio show. When I was younger I read his columns in the Washington Post. I think he is a refreshing voice in a very bland sports media and has been like that for years, but with that being said:

HE SHOULD BE FIRED FROM MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL IMMEDIATELY!!!

Sometimes you have to admit when something is a failure and without question after last night ESPN has to realize that Tony has to go. I turned in to see the Vikings vs. Packers not a Brett Favre lovefest. I turned in to see how Aaron Rodgers would do in his 1st start not how his every pass would be compared to Favre. I turned in to see how Adrian Peterson would do in his 2nd season not to hear how if Favre was running the ball he would already have 2000 yards after week one.

Now I made that last part up, but you get what I am saying. It was a disgusting display of Favre worship by Tony Kornheiser that even had John Madden saying:

"Boom!! That is a little much"

Thank god for Ron Jawroski saving an otherwise unbearable broadcast. At one point even Jaws had to tell Tony:

"You have to let it go."
