I really don't think that the free world is an anymore trouble than it already is if Barack Obama takes some time out to fill out a bracket for ESPN. Really, if some real damage was going to go down, it was going to happen regardless of that missing half hour. Hell, I bet he spends more time than that in the bathroom.

Actually, I'm more impressed that this man can find the time to be this knowledgable about college basketball while rebuilding the economy, getting us out of Iraq, curing cancer, walking on water, all the stuff that he does. It's not like he's falling behind on things. If he was turning in his budgets late and missing press conferences because he was copying someone else's notes at the last minute, the complainers might be onto something. But he's getting everything done, so why are we bothering him? If anything, we should be impressed with his time-management skills.

If you didn't know our President (sounds nice doesn't it) is a White Sox fan. Our friends at Midwest Sports Fans send us a funny moment from last night Inauguration where B Prez asked Troops from Illinois Army National Guard 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Unit where their true allegiances lie: White Sox or Cubs?

The answers were the first defeat for B Prez you can read more here:

On Inauguration Night, Barack Obama Asks Troops: White Sox or Cubs?

Not long after the Atlanta Hawks watched the inauguration of our 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, two of them were fitted with special shoes, courtesy of Nike.

Obama's College Football Stimulus Plan

|

obama60minutes.jpg
A plan for the economy, a plan for healthcare, a plan for the middle class...it seems there isn't any sector of the American way of life that President-elect Barack Obama doesn't have some sort of plan for but college football? Hmmm... In an interview Sunday with Steve Kroft of 60 minutes, Obama touched on the economy, the girls, the prospect of a new puppy, his mother-in -law in the White House along with other dire areas of interest to the American public before capping off the interview with his stimulus plan for college football. College football you say? It seems the President Elect is continuing to lobby to conquer and reconstruct the weapons of mass destruction in college sports known as the BCS system. And with good reason. The system, as many fans and analysts of sports nation can arguably agree, could use more use more upgrading than Solange's wardrobe. With a bias point system ran like an ironclad fist by the media bent on selecting ratings worthy teams, is it any wonder that the undefeated and one loss teams of "lower" conferences don't have a chance in hell of making the BCS championship game each year?

While not foolproof, like his road map to revive the middle class, Obama may be on to something.

Steve Kroft
What can you do or plan to do about getting a college football playoff for the national championship?

Obama
"This is important...I think any sensible person would say if you have a bunch of teams that have played throughout the season --- many of them with one or two losses, and there's no clear, decisive winner... we should create a playoff system. Eight teams, three rounds to determine a national champion. It would add three extra weeks; you could trim back the regular season. I don't know of any serious fan of college football who has disagreed with me on this... so I'm gonna throw my weight around a little bit. I think it's the right thing to do."

The BCS response is not so surprisingly as political correct as McCain's concession speech, marking the BCS' reluctance to listen to reason. After all, what sponsor in their right mind would sanction a playoff game between Ball State and say Oregon for instance? Snore. BCS coordinator, John Swofford had this to say:

"First of all I want to congratulate newly elected President Obama and I am glad he has a passion for college football like so many other Americans. For now, our constituencies -- and I know he understands constituencies -- have settled on the current BCS system, which the majority believe is the best system yet to determine a national champion while also maintaining the college football regular season as the best and most meaningful in sports."

Looks like its back to the drawing board for Obama's transition team

For someone who A- Is African-American and B- Who knows a thing or two about trying to bring change to the status quo I honestly and from the bottom of my heart want to congratulate President Elect Barack Obama.

I am relatively young man and I must admit I never thought I would see a day like this. Just the fact that parents all around the United States day can honestly look at their kids and say it doesn't matter if you have a funny name or a different skin color who can achieve anything you want in life including being the President of the United States of America.

Imagine that? Imagine that.

First off I don't care who you vote for, but just go out and vote.

Secondly trust me when i tell you this. More people care about a College Football Playoff than Steroids. I know this as a hard core fact. Here are the two interviews if you missed them.

Barack Obama

John McCain

I am not political. I am not democrat or republican. I am an independent. I am a free thinker. I don't like politicians I think the majority of them are liars. I didn't care Bill Clinton got head in the White House (I was a little envious). I find it funny George W. Bush can't read a teleprompter.

At the beginning of the Democratic race for President I was leaning toward Hilary Clinton simply off the strength that I liked Bill Clinton and thought he was a good president.
I was aware of Barack Obama but seriously a black man being president that is like saying there will be a black owner of a NFL team seemed like a fantasy.

But slowly but surely you saw the rise. In sports you see often the team or the player getting into the zone. Barack Obama has been in the zone for 18 months and after watching his acceptance speech for the Democratic nomination for president it is so obvious you are watching greatness.

That speech was Jordan over Russell in 1998:

I am a sports writer. BlackSportsOnline will never be confused with CNN. But one thing I understand is "Change". On such a smaller scale I have been trying to "Change" the bias sports media for years so it resonates with me that Barack is trying to "Change" the way America thinks.

In the month of August BlackSportsOnline has had over 100,000 visitors to the site. The reason you come to the site is for a "change", a breath of fresh air and a different perspective. Just remember that when you cast your ballot November 4th.

I am proud to be black. I am proud to be an American. I am a proud supporter of Barack Obama. I believe in fate and I believe in karma so I don't think it isn't coincidence that Obama's speech came on the same day of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

For many years Dr. King's dream has been a nightmare not just for African-Americans but Americans in general, but maybe just maybe it is time for a change. Do I think we can do it?

Barack Obama was scheduled to do a podcast with my ESPN.com buddy Bill Simmons. He is one of the few people employed by ESPN that I like. Unfortunately, at the last minute, ESPN producers nixed the show. It is ok for ESPN to show endless hours about steroids hearings, spygate and its own cheesy programming, but it won't allow 30 minutes for possibly the future president of the United States?

I guarantee you if this were John McCain or Hillary Clinton, they would be on the air right now. However, when you are an entity that is afraid to go against the status quo, you don't have enough guts to let an African-American presidential candidate on your network.

BlackSportsOnline endorses Barack Obama. So Barack, if you want to talk to an organization that is trying to make a change in the sports media just as you are trying to make a change in the United States, come holla at us.
