In a story that probably only I care about (but hey I am the boss, so what can you do) our pal Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com found a possible case of plagiarism between some high profile NFL writers. I am not going to bore you with all the details if you are interested Florio takes you through the step by step process of what happened:
SMOKING GUN EMERGES IN LANDRY SITUATION
Why this is of interest to me is because when I was a young Bona Fide Sports Expert and before the site had received any nationwide recognition I had several things jacked by the mainstream specifically my interpretation of Kobe Bryant as "Darth Kobe" & "Jack Bauer".
It is not unusual for the mainstream media who don't take "internet blogs" seriously to lift bits and pieces of stories and claim them as their own without giving any credit. Only recently has BlackSportsOnline started to garner the type of credibility to where we are now being credited as the "source" site.
So take this as more of a Public Service Announcement for writers of blogs or sites that are just starting out. Be very aware that people are always watching and will steal your material. Don't be afraid to call out a writer or site that you believe that may have poached your material.
We are all working trying to find our niche in the industry and when stuff like this happens it needs to be reported. I applaud PFT.com for bringing this to light because to quote Florio:
