When you hear about the Patriots around Super Bowl week you think they're actually in the big game. Well obviously this year they aren't but that does not mean some of the Patriots aren't making their own headlines. Or should I say the significant others of the Patriots players. For once we aren't talking about Gisele Bundchen, but instead Tania Seymour, the wife of Richard Seymour. According to WLTX.com,

The 27-year-old wife of a New England Patriots defensive lineman was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of second degree lynching in connection to an assault at a New Year's Eve party in Richland County.

Okay I never knew that people could be charged with lynching but then again this is in South Carolina where they still have the Confederate flag... Anyways word has it that his wife confronted one of Seymour's "jumpoffs" after finding out her husband was apparently cheating on her with that person. Apparently Tania here got her girls to join her in the beatdown. Now that's friendship you don't get friends like that anymore who would risk jailtime for you to settle the score. Regardless I'm not going to be outraged that her husband may have cheated I personally could care less. As I have said many times when you date a professional athlete the odds of him being faithful are very slim. That being said while I understand the desire to go off on the "homewrecker" I certainly hope she's holding her husband accountable for his part in this. Because if she is only blaming her instead of him well honestly that could be considered even dumber than the fact she's in this mess. See Pats fans is Gisele really that bad?

The AI Experiment

A few weeks ago when Detroit Pistons shooting guard Richard Hamilton came back from an injury, both Hamilton and Allen Iverson made it clear that they do not want to come off the bench. In an article written at the same time, I stressed that it might be better to have AI come off the bench because of his scoring prowess, and start Hamilton. Still, the answer, no pun intended, remains to be seen. Curry's decision ended up being to start Iverson, and bring Hamilton off the bench.

Losing 8 games of their last 11, the Pistons are still finding their way. Not a thought many Pistons fans as well as people around the league expected with Detroit being such a successful team in the Eastern Conference for the past five years.

But in the home game tonight against the Houston Rockets, I noticed something I don't think I have ever seen before.

aamir, ai and rip.jpgDetroit Pistons starting shooting guard, Richard Hamilton returned from a nagging injury this week their game on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers. He had a sub-par game, going 4/13 in thirty minutes, ending up with 9 points. It's a good thing starting shooting guard for the Detroit Pistons; Allen Iverson started and scored 23 on 19 shots.

See anything wrong with that?

The Pistons started Rasheed Wallace at center, putting Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton at forwards and Rodney Stuckey and AI in the backcourt. The Pacers are no powerhouse, but a front court of Danny Granger, Troy Murphy and Jeff Foster outrebounded and outscored the Detroit Pistons trio.

With such a small line up, coach Michael Curry will be writing his own ending as the Detroit Pistons head coach, as it will prove to be the decline of the Detroit Pistons. He has a choice to make... he has to decide whether to bring Rip or AI off the bench.

As you have probably heard by now Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier was shot last night and is facing life threatening injuries before giving you my thoughts here are the details of the story.

http://news.jacksonville.com/justin/2008/09/02/jaguar-shot-faces-life-threatening-injuries/

Richard Collier, 26, an offensive tackle in his third year with the Jaguars, was shot about 2:45 a.m. while sitting in a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Riverside Avenue, said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson.

Jefferson said Collier and former Jaguars player Kenneth Pettway had been out clubbing in the San Marco area when they met two women. The two men followed the women to Riverside near St. Vincent's Medical Center, police said, with the plan to drop the females' vehicle off and continue socializing in one vehicle.

While waiting outside the Riverside apartment, Jefferson said, someone walked up to the Cadillac Escalade and fired off a number of shots striking Collier, who was behind the wheel. Pettway was not injured in the attack.

I am not a preacher and I not trying to tell anyone how to live there life, but please and this doesn't go just for athletes but people in general be careful dealing with people you never met before especially if it is at 2:30 in the morning. Athletes even have to be more careful because to be honest they are easy targets for individuals who are jealous of their success or even on a lower level just criminals who are looking for an easy score.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Collier and his family I hope he pulls through.
