Let me make one thing perfectly clear I don't care what JR Smith says he was doing. I don't care that he says that he was doing the "upside down 3". I simply don't care because it doesn't matter.

You are a young black man covered in tattoos on national TV flashing what appears to be "gang signs".

Big thanks to John Lopez and Ted Deluca aka The Monsters of the Midday for having me on 790AM this afternoon talking about JR Smith and the NBA Playoffs. Just one of the many great radio stations over the past couple of days who have had me on giving me an opportunity to clarify my points on the matter.

If you want to listen to the audio of the segment which also included some talk on Lebron James as well as the Lakers vs. Nuggets series click below:

So I am checking out my Twitter direct messages (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline) and I have one from my friends over at Sporting News First Cuts (http://www.twitter.com/FirstCuts) telling me about the Joe Smith "Mixtape Thing".

So I am thinking that Joe Smith maybe started a record label or he is dabbling in some producing. I was sorely mistaken. Joe Smith is the actual rapper. He goes by the rap name Joe Beast (at least it isn't Lil Joe) and yes this is the same Joe Smith that was drafted #1 by the Golden State Warriors in 1995. The same Joe Smith who cost the Minnesota Timberwolves 14,000 draft picks. The same Joe Smith who is currently coming off the bench for the Cavaliers.

Here is the shocking part of the story you can listen to the mixtape for free here and honestly after listening to a couple of tracks it isn't that bad.

That probably says more about the state of rap music than Joe Beast skills, but I digress. If you have a few minutes give it a listen.

Chris Webber was born in Detroit, Michigan. Very nice guy, very smart guy and he come across well on television. But sometimes when you come from the hood every once awhile no matter how much money you have and how refine you have become the hood comes out.

This would be one of those times. C Webb is not a fan of the Orlando Magic or I should say he is not a fan of how the Orlando Magic ignores big man Dwight Howard from time to time. The Magic blew home court advantage today to the 76ers mainly because they started jacking up threes and missing a lot of them.

Meanwhile Howard had 31 points but did not see the ball a lot down the stretch. Chris had pointed out at half time why that is a problem. While Kenny and Charles tried to be a diplomatic about it Chris let everyone especially Kenny Smith know how he felt about the situation.

His face at the 1:53 mark will forever be known as:

THE CHRIS WEBBER FACE

You know there are times when you see something and all you can say is:

COME ON MAN!!!

When I saw this picture of Andre Smith from his Alabama Pro Day that was my first thought. Smith is providing a blueprint of what not to do if you want to be the #1 pick in the NFL Draft. First he gets suspended for the Alabama Bowl Game for improper contact with an agent. Then he comes to the combine out of shape and goes missing we he realized he was screwing up. He had almost a month to prepare for his Pro Day and he comes in looking like he has been bathing in Sausage McGriddles.

Once again in my quest for World Domination you can check out "Ya Boy" Robert Littal on the "The Drive" with Dave Smith on 830 AM in LA. Dave Smith has been a supporter of the site ever since I was talking about the Shaq & Kobe divorce back in the day, so it is a honor and privilege to appear on his show which is by far the best Sports Talk show in LA.

We are talking T.O. 24/7. So if you want to hear the truly unbias truth about Terrell Owens release be sure to listen. I will be on around 6:30PM Eastern, so don't be late.

If you aren't in LA go to The Drive 830AM website to listen to a live stream I would definitely appreciate it.

I will also be a guest on the Mark Gray show 1450 WOL-AM Washington, DC today between 7-10pm. This is the station that Petey Greene made famous. Also the Reverend Al Sharpton has a show on there. Definitely an honor to sit and talk sports with Mark Gray who is a phenomenal host.

Emmitt Smith has left the building Stage Left. ESPN has cut the former Cowboys running back and Dancing with the Stars winner according to our friend Mike Florio at
ProFootBallTalk.com. Who is the happiest about this departure?

The English Department at The University of Florida

Because to be honest I am still trying to figure out how he graduated (a little birdie reminds me that he left early for the NFL, but I digress).

ESPN is reporting that the New Orleans Hornets have agreed to send Tyson Chandler to the Oklahoma City Thunder today. Who the Hornets will receive in return is to be determined, but it's speculated that forwards Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox, both players with expiring contracts will be the bulk of the deal. What seems like a downgrade for the Hornets, the reason for the trade seems to be the ongoing dwindling economy.

Also traded earlier, the Boston Celtics sent little-used Sam Cassell to the Sacramento Kings for a future second round draft pick in 2015. Cassell who hasn't played a game with the Celtics this year, has taken the role of player-coach to mentor the younger Rajon Rondo and Gabe Pruitt. It is unknown whether or not the Kings will keep him or waive him.

In Phoenix, sources are also saying that with Alvin Gentry taking control of the Phoenix Suns, the run-and-gun Suns will be put into effect, thus making Stoudemire valuable to the Suns. It is likely that the Suns will no longer trade him before the deadline.

There's also a lot of talk about a Vince Carter/Tracy McGrady reuniting in Houston...could it be too late?

The NBA trading deadline is this Thursday.

I appreciate the fact that Steve Nash tried to take the charge, but sometime it is just best to get the hell out of the way.

Especially when there are flying b**** coming at your head.

This will make a nice poster. Not in Canada of course.

I am under the weather, it is raining outside like Noah is on the way, I have literally put together 578 gifts over the last two days and my toilet and shower are making noises as if ghosts are coming up from the pipes. With that being said this made my day when I ran across this on a message board. So without further ado here are the greatest Emmitt Smith Quotes of all time courtesy of WalterFootball.com

Emmitt's Greatest Hits

1. "Don't worry about the game you just won or the team that we just blew out... uhhh... blown... blown out... Let's think about what we need to do going forward, and they had... blown out. (Commentary: Don't believe he actually said this? I don't either. But check out Emmitt's Blunder as seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live.)

2. "Defensively, they're solid. They have solid defenses." (Commentary: From the redundancy department of the department of redundancy.)

3. "You hear Andy Reid going online and say, Donovan McNabb is my starting quarterback." (Commentary: It appears as though Emmitt is confused between "online" and "on the line." Does this mean Emmitt uses America On The Line Instant Messenger to chat with his friends?)

4. "Now the Colts are probably playing with more confidence than they ever have played since they been with the Indianapolis Colts." (Commentary: Right... That makes a lot of sense. As opposed to the Colts playing with more confidence than they ever have since being with the Jacksonville Jaguars.)

5. "They need to right the score to get revenge." (Commentary: Right the ship, right the score. Tomato, tomahto.)

6. "This will get you completely blowed out." (Commentary: Blowed? What will get you blowed? Turning it over a lot, or bringing flowers on a date?)

7. "They did a good job flying around the football field and carowzing the football carrier." (Commentary: Carowzing, eh? Guess Emmitt's old professors looked the other way when he used this word in his essays.)

8. "Brady will put up monster numbers because he can throw." (Commentary: Seriously, where else can you get this sort of analysis?)

9. "You cannot change the stripes of a leopard." (Commentary: Now, Emmitt, repeat after me. A cow says moooo...)

10. "The hill represent another rushing title this year for the season. For others watching this thing who've worked out on hills, this is a opportunity to build strength within." (Commentary: What... the... hell... is Emmitt talking about? First of all, again with the repetition. Rushing title this year for the season? And I love how Emmitt's appealing to the working-out-on-hills demographic because those people never get any love.)

11. "...Go to Arizona, sharp as a whistle, and do some finishing touches, so we can go down in the Super Bowl and play our best football of the whole entire season."(Commentary: Yeah, watch out for those sharp whistles - they can be really pointy.)

12. "The strength of the Patriots, their offense, got... DEBACLED." (Commentary: I was 99 percent sure Debacled wasn't a word, but I made sure in Microsoft Word. I typed it in, but instead of placing a red line below it, Microsoft Word just laughed at me.)

13. "That can be a swing their way eventually. I just hate to be the team that they winned it against." (Commentary: Let's see... butcher the English language, add an article where you don't need one and make up a word called "winned." Just another day in the life of Emmitt.)

We knew he could dance, but who knew that Emmitt Smith was a big fan of Young Jeezy and Kanye West? Emmitt obviously not paying attention to his producers seemed to be enjoying the song "Put On" a little too much. Hey Emmitt were are live!!! Save that for the club. I find it fascinating that he was able to mouth the line:

"B*tches Still Owe Me Sex"

Shawne Merriman did the right thing by shutting his season down. I was watching him carefully on Sunday and while he wasn't playing badly you could just tell he was not the same guy and it wasn't even close. I have some sources who told me the day after the game that the pain was so intense he knew it was time to give it up for the year. I commend him for trying for his teammates (and/or contract).

The problem that is still bothering me is that it was Merriman that had to make the decision when from the beginning it should have been the Chargers organization. In the end I believe karma will catch up with them for being so reckless with someone's career. Then again you have had to win something to have karma bite you in the ass and in the AJ Smith era they haven't won jacked unless you count losing playoff games they were heavily favored in.

I would personally like to apologize to Carolina Panthers cornerback Ken Lucas. When the news first spread that he was beat down by Steve Smith, I assumed it was a fair fight. But after about 30 or so emails from people across the nation, I have now learned that Lucas was indeed "sucker punched" by Steve Smith. Nothing funny about that, and I hope the injuries he sustained don't affect his season.

As far as Steve Smith goes, he was suspended for two games by the Carolina Panthers which I applaud them for doing. In reality, after getting the details of the altercation, I would have kicked him off the team. This isn't the first, but the second time Smith has "sucker punched" a teammate and seriously injured them. I don't care how good a player he is, that isn't the type of player that I would want on my team. He is a coward and a punk in my opinion, and someone who surely should be classified as one of the "bad" guys in the league.

Steve Smith has anger issues and not normal anger issues. He has like OJ anger issues. Smith laid the "smack down" to Ken Lucas at Panthers' practice today. Now when I say Smith laid the smack down, I mean Lucas had to be carried off on a cart.

Sorry, I am back now. Had to get that off of my chest. Let's go over the tale of the tape for our combatants:

Steve Smith: 5'9" 185 pounds

Ken Lucas: 6'1" 200 pounds

Let's go over the details of the fight. Here are some quotes from ESPN.com & Profootballtalk.com.

Carolina Panthers cornerback Ken Lucas was carted off the field with an ice pack above his left eye Friday after a fight with teammate Steve Smith.

Lucas walked to a tent, holding his head while accompanied by a trainer.
According to several eyewitness, the two teammates were on the sidelines discussing a play that happened previously at camp and Smith wound up slugging Lucas while the cornerback was resting on one knee.

In the end, Lucas had a large gash under his eye and a bloody face.

In all seriousness though, Steve Smith has a problem. This isn't the first time that he has beat down a teammate. In 2002, he punched teammate Anthony Bright in the film room. If I were the Panthers, I would suspend him for at least two regular season games, but, of course, they won't do that because he is their entire offense. And there is a double standard when it comes to star players and discipline.

On a related note, and I don't know how many times I can point this out. I thought T.O., Chad Johnson and Randy Moss were the bad guys? Can you imagine the media attention if this were Terrell Owens as opposed to Steve Smith. Just remember the media will try to manipulate you into believing who is a "bad" guy and who is a "good" guy, but it is never that clear. It is obvious Steve Smith needs some serious help, but I guarantee this story will be forgotten by next week. It isn't a black or white thing. It is a "who-the-media-likes" thing. And, honestly, that is the sad state of the biased mainstream media.

ESPN is expected to make the formal announcement that Chris Carter will be taking over Emmitt's role on Sunday NFL Countdown. I, for one, am thrilled with this development seeing as how I have been enjoying Chris Carter on ESPN since he joined. He's probably the only NFL analyst on ESPN that doesn't annoy me this side of Sal Paolantonio. Not to mention, he seems to have a far better grasp of the English language than Emmitt. I do like Emmitt Smith, but he is not even entertaining enough for me to get past his flaws ala Michael Irvin. Of course, Emmitt is not gone entirely. He will remain on Monday NFL Countdown and appear with Stuart Scott and Steve Young during the Monday Night games.
