So women call out their favorite MLB player...physically. We're nearing the MLB All-Star Game, which many deem useless, and we're still stuck with no football. The NBA Draft comes and goes with some huge trades and some rookie drama as well as some pretty questionable draft picks. Glen Davis may not be a Celtic next year. That could be big for Beantown. And one blogger has a curious thought about Larry Bird.

Madden Curse

|

madden10_cover_300x414.jpgAnother year, another Madden, another curse. This time not one but two players. I have no idea what the new cover guys are thinking because the curse is real. Troy Polamalu and Larry Fitzgerald are going to be on the cover of Madden. Polamalu is coming off a pro bowl season, a Super Bowl win and had a career high 7 int. Larry Fitzgerald is coming off a unbelievable run in the playoffs where he set a postseason record 546 receiving yards, 30 receptions and 7 touchdowns but eventually lost to Polamalu and the Steelers.

Now what do Fitzgerald and Polamalu have to look forward to for gracing the Madden cover. Lets start out with one of my favorite players of all time and Madden 01 cover Eddie George. The year before the cover Eddie killed with a career high in attempts 403, yards 1509 and touchdowns 14. Then the cover comes, 2001 season. Career lows as a Titan in yards 939, yards per attempt 3 and touchdowns 5. 2002 cover Daunte Culpepper was getting his roll on, blowing up for 33 touchdowns but after he decided to do Madden, a whopping 14 touchdowns.

This is where things are starting to get serious. In 2003, Madden picks a former MVP and Offensive Player of the Year Marshall Faulk. It's a terrible shame what the curse did to Faulk. After doing the cover, a bum ankle hurt his season and Faulk never touched a 1000 yard rushing season again. In the 2004 season they put the most electric quarterback in the league Michael Vick. The verdict... I mean the outcome: Vick breaks his main asset his legs in the preseason.

Bars of Kansas City can officially rejoice for the next two years. Kansas City Chiefs' RB, Larry Johnson has been banned from all Kansas City bars after 9 p.m. as part of his probation upon pleading guilty for "disturbing the peace." Last time I checked "allegedly" shoving a woman and spitting his drink in the face of another woman last year qualified for more than a simple disturbance. Minor or not, its assault. Which was the original charge before Johnson entered his guilty plea and the charges were reduced.

At least the drunken hot girls will be safe from saliva baths and shoving matches now that he will not be consuming alcohol and haunting bars/nightclubs after 9 p.m. Instead, Johnson will be tapping into his inner Gandhi and Mother Theresa through his court ordered anger control counseling and 40 hours of community service. A few woo-sais (think Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys) and chakras and Larry Johnson might be as good as new. That and the fact that he is dating Chilli of female R&B super group fame, TLC

Perhaps she'll make a man out of him yet. If not, I hope some of deceased bandmate, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes rubbed off on her. Larry better watch out! Don't make her bust a match if she doesn't have to. Much like Larry's hot pink diamond bezelled watch and his outfit, I heard saliva and fire don't mix.

WATCH HIGHLIGHTS FROM SUPER BOWL 43

I often talk about becoming a legend. You don't become a legend by being a front runner. You don't become a legend by just managing the game. You don't become a legend running from the spotlight. For many years I have been a critic of Ben Roethlisberger. Even when he won a Super Bowl the Steelers won in spite of him.

This was the game I felt that Roethlisberger could possibly make his legendary mark, but when Larry Fitzgerald ran free through the Steelers secondary to make the score 23-20 with a little over two minutes to go I wondered.

I wondered if Big Ben was up to have his "Montana Moment"?

Then he orchestrated a drive that turns you from just a regular Quarterback into a legendary one. Ben Roethlisberger has my respect and with two Super Bowl rings he should have silenced any leftover critics out there.

While Big Ben deserves a lot of credit how about Santonio Holmes? Everyone was talking about Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin but it was Holmes that stole the show and eventually the MVP. It is one thing to just make catches, but Holmes made clutch catches including the biggest catch of Super Bowl 43. As a former Wide Receiver myself you dream about catching the winning pass in the Super Bowl. Just a thing of beauty and for the second year in a row an improbable catch will define a Super Bowl.

By the way Santonio is a proud alum of The Ohio State University (I know my school produces ballers).

Best receiver in the game. Point blank period. When the Steelers decided they weren't going to allow any deep routes to Fitzgerald he showed why now there isn't any weaknesses in his game when he took a slant route and ran away from the Steelers defenders. He had the best post season of any receiver in the history of the game and for that he should be very proud. The Cardinals just came up a little bit short, but Fitzgerald did everything in his power.

1- Kurt where was Jesus when you were with the Giants?

2- Anquan if you face caught on fire would you look like the Terminator underneath?

3- Mike Tomlin what was it like kissing 13 from House?

4- Troy that ain't nothing but an Ultra Perm.

This man is staking a claim as the best Wide Receiver in the game. Not since Lynn Swann have we've seen such beautiful and artistic catches in the post season. The thing I love about this is not the catch but the amazing body control to stay balance to get into the end zone. Seriously this guy has become a huge star regardless of what happens in the Super Bowl.

This is the best way I can describe "Wrong Way" Larry Brown returning to the bench to coach the Charlotte Bobcats.

Early on Monday morning. when asked if he was interested in talking to the Bobcats about the job opening "Wrong Way" said:

"There is nothing to talk about."

Less than twelve hours later, it was being reporting he had signed on to be the coach. This describes Larry Brown to a tee. He is a habitual liar and he is someone who is always looking out for himself. He is a great coach. But let me warn you Bobcats fans (the five of you) if it doesn't work out, he is going to leave your franchise in tatters with probably another twenty million dollars in his pocket.

A few years a go I wrote an article: "Wrong Way" Larry Brown and Larry Brown "Serial Killer." That article went into detail of what a snake Brown could be. Check it out and probably. in a year or two. we will be talking about how Larry did the Bobcats wrong.
