BSO Featured Interview: Serena Williams Talks G2, Tennis & Bodies
When you are approached to interview Serena Williams there is one thing you must know:
Be on time.
Serena is much more than the #1 Tennis player in the world. With off the court activities ranging from her fashion line “Aneres”, acting roles in major Hollywood pictures and now NFL ownership (Serena and Venus are now minor owners of the Miami Dolphins football franchise), she is a woman constantly on the move.
So when she took some time out to speak to BSO while on the set of her latest Gatorade G2 commercial (check out the behind the scene pics), we made sure we were on time and ready to talk about all things Serena.
RL: We definitely appreciate you taking the time out to talk to us. Tell us a little bit about the commercial you are shooting with Gatorade.
Serena: It is for the product line G2. I am not getting too much out of character. I am playing myself on the tennis court. Gatorade is a great company and I believe the commercial will look great. I hope everyone likes it.
RL: Gatorade is known for featuring the best of the best athletes. When you are being mentioned with the likes of Michael Jordan, Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods, how does that make you feel?
Serena: It is honor to be honest to be mentioned with them. Gatorade has put a lot of responsibility on me *laughs*. As an athlete, no matter the sport, you are always trying to be the best. No matter what I do, I want to be the best.
RL: On the court, who is your greatest rival? Would it be your sister Venus or someone else?
Serena: Venus is the best player I have ever played against but I take everyone serious as a competitor. I seem to get the best out of whomever I play no matter the tournament or round.
RL: So in essence, playing again Serena is like their “Super Bowl?” Because if you beat Serena that is news.
Serena: Right, I always get their “A” game. So I can’t afford to take anyone lightly because if I do I will get beat and the headlines will be what happened to Serena *laughs*.
RL: I promised my readers and my followers on Twitter that I would ask you about the ESPN Body issue. How did it feel to be “so free” in front of the cameras?
Serena: *laughs* I get that question a lot. But it was a truly amazing experience and I got so much positive feedback. I was honored that ESPN had the courage to choose me for the cover of the issue, I totally loved doing it.
RL: Speaking of the cover, I speak for men all over the world by saying we preferred your cover to Dwight Howard. He made us look bad.
Serena: Awww, sorry but you have to take care of the girls too.
RL - Lastly you have a lot of outside ventures when you are finally done playing tennis, what do you see yourself doing?
Serena – Hopefully my relationship with Gatorade will still be ongoing because I love working with them. Everything I do, I have a lot of passion for it. Be it design, fashion or acting. I don’t know what the future holds but I will give it 200%. But, I do I plan on playing Tennis for a long time I have more Grand Slams to win!

It definitely was over the top with the fine.
What message are they trying to send with that amount for the fine??? SMH
Anywho, great interview. Robert, you were prob salivating the whole interview. LOL
This is how it is in tennis!!! Lets not forget Serena is a BLACK WOMEN in predominatley WHITE SPORT! and relativley free from too much contraversey. Those crackers wont let anyone have a hold on the good or bad publicity of THEIR sport except them!!! Others have had outburst before, but….they were either WHITE or MEN. Simple……..or is it?
