You know it is a big fight when where is it going to be held has been the biggest news in boxing for the last two weeks.
With more twists and turns than an episode of the Young and Restless it appears now that location has been decided upon even if Top Rank owner Bob Arum is still trying to keep it close to the vest.
“They have selected a site,” Arum said, referring to his stepson and Top Rank president Todd duBoef on the Pacquiao side and Richard Schaefer repping Mayweather on the other. “But I can’t say a word other than that.”
Sources tell BlackSportsOnline that the site will be the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Vegas which has been the front runner for the fight from the beginning and calmly waited out all the offers )the biggest being the 25 million dollar offer from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones) and then presented a mega offer for the fight.
Our source tells us the offer was between 32 to 35 million.
To generate that type of revenue the tickets for the MGM Grand Arena will be the highest for any other fight ever in Vegas. Also for those who can’t afford a ticket the fight will be shown on 40,000 closed caption screens at the various MGM properties on the Vegas strip.
Add in a few perks that only Vegas can provide and it was pretty much a done deal.
The one thing that can’t be understated is that both Mayweather and Pacquiao preferred to fight in Vegas over any place else and since the promoters work for the fighters it would have been a huge upset for the fight to take place anywhere else.
The BSO Jet is warming and will be there on March 13th will you?
