It is open season (pun intended) for other golfers to take jabs at Tiger Woods. The secret that most people don’t know is even though Woods is the reason a lot of these guys are getting paid outlandish purses, many golfers on tour do not like Tiger Woods.
Under their breath they are getting enjoyment out of his currently plight. Tom Watson decided to makes his opinion known publicly. Check out what he had to say in this ESPN article:
“I’ll let the cat out of the bag,” Watson said ahead of the Dubai Desert Classic. “Tiger has to take ownership of what he has done. He must get his personal life in order. I think that’s what he’s trying to do. And when he comes back he has to show some humility to the public.
“I feel that he has not carried the same stature that other great players that have come along like Jack [Nicklaus], Arnold [Palmer], Byron Nelson, the Hogans, in the sense that there was language and club throwing on the golf course,” Watson said. “You can grant that of a young person that has not been out here for a while. But I think he needs to clean up his act and show the respect for the game that other people before him have shown.”
A couple of things, Tom Watson is a peer of Tiger not his daddy. I don’t think it is his place to tell Woods to get his personal life in order and show humility in public. That is something Watson should have told Woods privately if he wanted to help.
Secondly everyone knows Woods on the course behavior can be a bit crude at times, but once again why wait until Tiger has been exposed as a Noho Lover to bring that up?
Woods has been playing professionally for more than a decade and Watson just now decided to bring this up?
Nothing cool about kicking a man while he is down and Watson should be more concerned about himself than what is going on in the Woods’ home.
