Quite frankly I miss Emmitt Smith on TV.
The unintentional comedy that he provided was top notch on a week in and week out basis. It was comedic gold as they would say.
Even though Emmitt is not gracing us on television with phrases like “blowed out” he still has a lot to say. He had a recent interview with Slam Magazine where he spoke about Redskins owner Dan Snyder:
I loved defeating the Redskins, I loved it, I loved it, I loved it with a passion. And I loved it more when Daniel Snyder got the team, for a number of reasons. I did. Because here is a guy who thought he could build a football team just because he has the money to buy players. There’s more to it than that.
And he’s not a compassionate person, not a compassionate person at all from what I understand. And that makes me just want to pummel somebody. You know, you hate to see pride, wearing itself on his forehead and his chest. And to me, arrogance sticks out like a sore thumb when you talk about him. And the lack of compassion for others is a problem. Because it’s not that hard to be compassionate; you just choose to.
This is the same Emmitt Smith who complained about his contract yearly, but I digress on that point. My favorite quote out of that passage:
“You hate to see pride, wearing itself on his forehead.”
Wait? What?
Anyway Dan Snyder took the high road and didn’t really make any negative comments about Smith except to take a shot at his dancing skills. A lot of people feel that Snyder is a cold hearted individual who doesn’t treat people with respect, so Emmitt wasn’t far off with that. He has definitely tried to “buy” a Super Bowl and failed miserable at that.
The real reason I wanted to post this article though was to make sure you checked out:
