I can’t lie it is probably in the best interest of Roethlisberger for him not to talk. He has proven many times that he isn’t the brightest guy in the world and if allowed to speak freely he will probably incriminate himself.
With that being said everyone else has been interviewed and if he is truly innocent and doesn’t want to be charged he needs to tell investigators his side of the story.
If you have a “he said”, “she said” incident, if the only person that is talking is the victim you have to take her claim at face value.
This has already been a distraction for the Steelers’ organization and the quicker it can be wrapped up the better. The longer it gets drawn out the more likely things will come out that aren’t flattering to the Roethlisberger.
It appears to me his lawyers are trying to surmise exactly what evidence the police have against Roethlisberger so they can prep him for an interview. That is their job and that is what they are suppose to do. As long as Roethlisberger is telling the truth I think he will be fine, but when you try to get too cute with investigators that is normally when you end up in deeper trouble.
