Saints fans are not pleased by this if they believe in the Madden Curse.  Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees has been tapped as the cover athlete for the 2011 edition of Madden.

Here are the details:

EA Sports will be making the official announcement tomorrow that Drew Brees has won the vote to be on the cover of Madden 11. This has essentially been the forgone conclusion ever since the promotion began which put Brees up against Reggie Wayne and Jared Allen.

On Friday Brees will be on Live with Regis and Kelly to promote the announcement.

If you are a gambler I wouldn’t put money on the Saints making it back to the Super Bowl – and you had better pray Brees makes it through the season in one piece.

Last year the cover was shared by Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu. ¬†While Fitzgerald had another outstanding year, Polamalu battled injuries from game one and his absence was one reason the defending champion Steelers didn’t make the playoffs.

Saints fans – be afraid, be very afraid.
