This is unrelated to the nightclub drink throwing incident but ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Holmes is facing a four-game suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. Here are the details:
Multiple sources have advised us that receiver Santonio Holmes is facing a four-game suspension under the league’s substance-abuse policy. It’s presently unknown whether Holmes tested positive for a prohibited substance or committed some other violation of the policy, such as missing a required test. It’s our current understanding that the internal NFL appeals process has not been finalized.
Holmes has had problems with marijuana before and for some odd reason has tweeted before about getting up to “Wake and Bake” which is slang for smoking weed in the morning (some athletes really need to delete their twitter accounts).
I would not be shocked if the NFL – who monitors all their players twitter accounts – saw that and immediately ordered a random test for Holmes.
Whatever the case may be, it shows awful judgment on Holmes’ part and with the possible suspension of Ben Roethlisberger coming, Mike Tomlin may want to permantely accept a role on “House”.
