I was always a big fan of Jose Lima, not so much for his pitching, but for his personality. He was a very outgoing player, always had a great quote any time he spoke to the media, and his enthusiasm on the mound is the stuff of legend. I am saddened by his death and prayers go out to his family. Here are the details from ESPN.com:
Former All-Star right-hander Jose Lima died Sunday morning at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 37.
The cause of death was ruled a heart attack, according to his wife, Dorca Astacio.
“Jose was complaining while sleeping and I just thought he was having a nightmare,” Astacio told ESPNdeportes.com. “I called the paramedics, but they couldn’t help him.”
Being in my 30’s, things like this always scare me immensely, so all I can say is treat every day like it is your last and always tell the people you are close to that you love them.
RIP to “LIMA TIME…BELIEVE IT!!”
