We were the first to report last month that there were whispers that Gus Johnson would be the new announcer for the Madden franchise (Gus Johnson The New Voice of Madden?).

No more whispers – it is now official that Gus has been tapped to replace Tom Hammond in Madden ’11 and we have the video to prove it.

I won’t even lie, I was wavering on buying this year’s edition of Madden (and possibly breaking my 21-year streak of buying the game), but no worries about that anymore.

With Gus doing the play-by-play, no longer will I have to put the sound on mute to play the game.

If we could only get Gus to do all the video game sports franchises then we would be set for life, but for now this will have to do.

With this announcement we have just another reason to look forward to the upcoming NFL season.
