Looks like the Washington Wizards aren’t the only club in the NBA that enjoys a good wager every now and then (minus the firearms). If you are anything like me, you have been probably wondering why Mickael Pietrus’ hair was looking like an old Brillo pad. Well, it’s because he had a season-long bet with teammates that prohibited him from cutting his hair for the year… I knew he wasn’t looking like a runaway slave for no reason.
It was reported that this wager dated back to the beginning of training camp, where $17,000 was put on the table on whether Mickael Pietrus, who has kept his head shaved for 20 years, could go without getting any sort of hair modification for the whole season, which included cuts, shape-ups, tapers, and trims.
This $17,000 was put up by teammates Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, and Jameer Nelson, and it was reported by Yahoo! Sports that they were in for “widely different sums…” I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that D12 put up the bulk of that sum, for obvious reasons.
Now, I’m a person that can’t go more than ten days without a fresh cut, but for seventeen grand, I’d definitely sport the Kunta for a whole year. I swear these dudes in the NBA who got money just bet on things when they get bored, like:
“Yo, I bet you $25,000 I can make this quarter flip heads three times in a row.”
“Make it $50,000 and we got a bet.”
But on the bright side, at least someone on the Magic won something this year.

On a side note, doesn’t Mickael Pietrus freakishly resemble New Orleans MC Jay Electronica? You be the judge.
