NBA referee Jim DeRosa lost his cool last night. You can see in the video above that he got into a back-and-forth argument with a Magic fan. He then decided it was a good idea at the moment to toss the ball at the fan, who tossed it back at him. I say “tossed” because they weren’t out there dodgeball style or anything.
DeRosa then had security come over and handle the situation. The fan had to move from his courtside seat but was not actually kicked out. To me, that is a punk move considering it looks like DeRosa was the instigator of the situation. Now I guess Magic fans in general were upset about the way the game was called last night, but it’s funny how the team that wins never complains about that. I am thinking they should be upset at Vince Carter for missing those free throws, but it is hard to shoot free throws when you are choking as hard as he was.
During the game, Mark Jackson did state that David Stern should handle this just like he would if a player did the same thing and I partially agree with him. I know that as an NBA referee, Jim must be stressed out and get heckled all the time but #cmonson you are better than that. Sit him down for the rest of the playoffs and let him start his summer vacation early.
