Add one more to the NBA Free Agency Free-for-All starting July 1st. NBA.com is reporting that Dirk Nowitzki is opting out of the final year of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks to test the free agency market, leaving $21.5 million on the table.
This news is supposed to be ‘hush-hush’ since the team wasn’t planning to announce this news. Something tells me this was an unexpected move and the Mavericks are scrambling to keep their All-Star Forward with the team. President Don Nelson has already booked a flight to Germany on July 1st to talk Nowitzki into staying with the Mavs.
The Free Agency crystal ball is so unclear right now, Miss Cleo can’t predict what will be announced July 8th. Apparently, we will have to rely on Stephen A. Smith to know what’s going on…*ka boom kish*
