A lot of people ask what the after-effects of cycling off steroids are.
I will now assume memory loss is one of them.
A-Rod, who has been having a decent season, somehow forgot what inning it was when he hit this two-run blast. He thought it was of the walk off variety, but alas; it was just the bottom of the 8th inning.
In A-Rod’s defense, he didn’t try to lie about it; here is what he said:
“I thought I hit a much bigger home run than I actually hit,” Rodriguez said. “I looked over at A.J. [Burnett] and [Andy] Pettitte in the dugout and they weren’t moving. That’s when I kinda started to figure we had one more half-inning to play. It was pretty embarrassing.”
At least the Yankees won, so this minor detail will soon be forgotten.
You like that play on words, don’t you?
Just a side note; remember when A-Rod was one of the most talked about athletes on the planet? Now he is pretty much an afterthought.
I have a theory.
People loved to bash A-Rod because he was this extremely talented fake guy who didn’t have a ring. I don’t think anyone really disliked him personally, he was just an easy target. Once he won his ring, there really isn’t anything to talk about anymore.
Probably for the best that he is off the radar — don’t want to end up like Tiger or Mike Vick.
