There have been a lot of negative stories coming out about Michael Vick and a lot of them are justified, but in the interest of fairness we also want to report information that supports Vick’s claims that he had no knowledge of what was going on and that he acted properly afterwards.
The Eagles released a statement in response to a report that they were considering releasing Vick. Here is what they had to say via ProFootballTalk:
“Following the incident that occurred in Virginia on the morning of June 25, Michael and his representatives promptly contacted law enforcement agencies, the Philadelphia Eagles and the National Football League. The Eagles were provided with very detailed information during that discussion as to what took place at the event. Those details have not changed in any way over the course of the last week. Our investigation to this point has confirmed and has been consistent with the information that was originally communicated to us.
“Furthermore, any report or speculation that suggests the Eagles are considering releasing Vick are not true. We will continue to gather information and monitor the situation and we will not have any further comment until that process is complete.”
It is good that immediately after the incident, Vick let everyone know what was going on. Hopefully he was being truthful, because if you read between the lines what the Eagles are saying is this:
“Right now we haven’t gotten any info that Vick is lying to us but we are still checking … and if we find something, his ass will be out on the street.”
If Vick is holding something back, I suggest he tells everyone now before he gets caught in any lies. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn’t involved in the shooting, but it would be the lies that could do him in.
