Fresh off the biggest free agent signing in the history of the NBA, Miami Heat president Pat Riley is looking to fill the remaining spots on the team. To make salary cap room for Dwyane Wade to stay in Miami and to acquire LeBron James and Chris Bosh, the Heat had to basically empty their roster. Now that the “Golden Triangle” has been signed, they have to look to get the free agents that are left. And Riley is not starting from the bottom of the pile.
TMZ.com states that the Miami Heat are looking to get Los Angeles Lakers PG Derek Fisher. From NBA sources, TMZ.com has learned that Derek Fisher will be in Miami tomorrow to hear a pitch by Heat brass. Sources also state that Fisher has been contacted by several members of the Heat organization, including players.
Fisher just won his fifth NBA championship and could be quite the asset to the Heat roster. Not only during the regular season, but his experience could be invaluable when the playoffs start. The Lakers have a deal for Fisher, but with Fisher getting older and Dr. Buss getting cheaper, the deal isn’t exactly a no-brainer. We’ll see if the Heat offer to pay Fisher in Trident Layers to stay under the salary cap. Stay tuned…………
