ATLANTA, GA.—NFL players will join the ranks of local entertainers and community leaders during the CETA Foundation’s Weekend with Stevie Baggs on July 9-10, 2010. CETA will play host to some of the NFL’s most philanthropic players as they come together for the empowerment and enrichment of the youth in the Atlanta community!
“I have a passion to give back knowledge. Knowledge is effective when you share it with someone else, so that it may assist in one becoming more independent,” said Stevie Baggs, who is also President of the CETA Foundation. “Furthermore, philanthropy is monument to me, for I understand that in life we do not because we know not. So I am here to share knowledge about the game of life and football while striving to make a difference in the lives of these young people as well.”
During the 2nd Annual Stevie Baggs Football Camp and Life Skills Clinic, Baggs will host more than 150 youth from local Boys & Girls Clubs and other metro Atlanta youth organizations for free. Additionally, this year’s camp will feature training sessions for hearing impaired athletes. “This year I decided to support the hearing impaired through my football camp because of my mentor Demaral Beasley of World Class Courier. He has two children who were left out of sports growing up because they are hearing impaired, so we wanted to include them and other athletes who are hearing impaired into this year’s event. We want to empower everyone through CETA.” Local youth from Berkmar High School will attend this year’s camp and receive special instruction from hearing impaired trained football coaches.
Sponsors and partners of this year’s camp include The CETA Foundation, The Atlanta Public School System and The New Schools at Carver, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Glory Sports Consultants, EllaBee PR, Vitamin Water, Deeply Rooted, Imperial Productions, Frito-Lay, Subway, World Class Courier, ESP Athletics, Hilton Atlanta, Citi Financial, Monster Energy Drinks, State Farm Insurance, Ted’s and more.
Additional Camp details: Hosted at The New Schools at Carver at 55 McDonough Boulevard, Atlanta, GA 30315. The camp is open to all youth ages 10-18. Camp times are 9am-3pm daily. All campers will receive lunch for both days, a camp T-shirt, autograph memorabilia, goodie bag and more. The camp fee is $75 for both days. Day #1 of the two-day camp will feature life-skills and mentor-ship workshops, with Media Personality and Empowerment Speaker Tangie Larkin from Workshops For Life, and an interactive panel session with guest speakers from the NFL, the Atlanta Police and Fire Departments, Fulton County Health Department and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
