In an effort to look even dumber than the wasted opportunity of landing LeBron James, ESPN.com is reporting that the New York Knicks are poised to do a sign-and-trade deal with the Golden State Warriors. The deal, according to sources, would send Lee to the Warriors for Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azubuike among others.
Lee is expected to get a six year, $80 million deal from the Warriors in the sign-and-trade deal. Kicks GM Donnie Walsh think that Randolph would be a great compliment to Amare Stoudemire and Danilo Gallinari in the front court. If the Knicks do land LeBron tonight, they’ll have to renounce their rights to Lee in order to fit in LeBron under the cap. That will kill any chances of a sign-and-trade.
Now the Knicks are in the talks with several other teams, but the Warriors seem to be the head and shoulders favorite. Also keep in mind this is IF the Knicks do not land LeBron James, which we all know by now is….*say it with me* A FLUID SITUATION.
That being said, if the Knicks give up Lee, for a grab bag of utility players consider this: The Knicks will have given away top-10 lottery picks in 2004, ’06, ’07, ’09, ’10”. Yes, you did read that correctly. They have remained crappy to get a top-10 pick and then done absolutely NOTHING with it, only to trade it for NOTHING in return.
You know they speak of the cycle of violence, or the cycle of families not going to college, stuff like that….well those same people should do a study of the Knicks and their cycle of mediocracy crapiness(I made it a word…sue me).
THE SUMMER OF LEBRON CONTINUES…..
