Most people know Jay Mariotti from ESPN’s Around the Horn, he also use to write for the Chicago Sun Times and currently writes for Fanhouse.com.

Mariotti to be perfectly honest is a card carrying member of what I like to call the “Bias Mainstream Media”.  Very arrogant , very loud, likes to present opinions as facts and is overly judgmental of athletes.

I have a rule with athletes to never believe what you see on TV, because you never know what type of people these guys are behind close doors.  That rule can be applied to anyone who has any measure of fame even media personalities.

Mariotti was arrested early this morning for a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.  Here are the details:

LAPD sources said Mariotti allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend at a club in Santa Monica.

The argument continued at the couple’s apartment in Venice, where some type of physical altercation allegedly occurred. Police were called to the apartment, and Marioitti was arrested. He is currently being held at the 77th Street station.

As always innocent until proven guilty, but the question begs if this was say Vince Young and not Jay Mariotti, would Mariotti give Young the benefit of the doubt he surely will want now?

When Mariotti gives his excuse for the “altercation” will he expect us in the media to take him at his word when for years he hasn’t given the same luxury to the athletes he has covered?

How will ESPN handle this?

Will they keep an accused felony on their payroll?

We will see who the real hypocrites are now.
