It is hard to believe Clarett is only 26 years old.
It seems like he has been around and causing controversy forever. If Clarett can actually make the opening night roster of the Nighthawks I hope the mainstream media gives it the attention it deserves.
The media is always there to kick a man when he is down, but what about holding a hand out when he is trying to get up?
Clarett who had a personal workout with the Nighthawks, according to the Denver Post has signed an agreement:
Clarett had a personal tryout with the United Football League’s Omaha Nighthawks on Sunday and I just got word he and the team reached an agreement Monday.
Clarett, 26, hasn’t played since his spectacular freshman year at Ohio State _ seven years ago. He sat out one year after challenging the NCAA draft-eligibility years, then was cut by the Broncos in 2005, then served 3 1/2 years in prison on gun and aggravated robbery charges.
I wish Clarett well, he could have easily dug himself a deeper hole while in prison, but he used the time well. He has a real opportunity to show young men especially young black men that all is not lost when you go to jail especially at such a young age.
