In what has to be one of the most eventful off seasons in NBA history, the latest news comes out of Boston, where it is reported that the Celtics are close to acquiring another O’Neal by the name of Shaq, which would give the squad more depth in the front court.
Various reports say that the deal that would bring the Big……..never mind…. to the Bean is expected to be completed either tonight or early tomorrow morning

NBA.com’s David Aldridge reported that O’Neal has been told that he will come off the bench in Boston.
With his options becoming more and more limited, an opportunity to play for a title contender became more slim.
And it is that opportunity, more than anything else, that helped fuel O’Neal’s desire to be a Celtic.
“For me, it’s been a real thinking process,” Shaquille O’Neal told the Associated Press on Tuesday. “I came into the league very graciously and want to go out very graciously. My main thought was I would like to play for a winning franchise, somebody that’s used to winning, somebody that keeps winning.”
Clearly Boston has dethroned the state of Florida as the NBA graveyard but with that being said, this is a good pickup for Boston. Shaq can still give you 15 and 8, and that is all they need from him at this point. Yes he is 38, but there is such a lack of available good centers in the league he can still bring a good team value.
Another reason that this is good is because Boston is a half court offensive team. Shaq thrives in a half court offense. If they get Perkins back by the playoffs this will be the meanest front lines in the league considering their depth at Power Forward and Center.
And let’s be real, when the decision is between Shaq and Kwame Brown……who’s taking Kwame Brown? Exactly
Some things that Doc Rivers will need to implement asap: a wheel chair ramp being built at the player’s entrance and a no dancing rule needs to be enacted immediately….because Lord knows the last thing I want to see is a Glen Davis and Shaq “Dougie” video surfacing next season.
