Michele Bundy on Shannon Sharpe: “He Forced Me To Have Sex”

My question is this, if according to the protective order that Miss Bundy filed against CBS NFL personality Shannon Sharpe, he forced her to have sex, why is Miss Bundy filing a restraining order as oppose to pressing criminal charges?

Forcing someone to have sex is called rape and if someone is doing that they should be in jail, not being “restrained”.

Sports By Brooks has a copy of the restraining order granted to Miss Bundy and also this quote from her lawyer:

Sharpe forced Miss Bundy to have sex with him. He repeatedly calls and threatens her life. Places her under surveillance and calls to say he is watching her.

I am trying to use some common sense here, if someone is forcing themselves on me, threatening my life and has me under surveillance shouldn’t my first call be to the cops?  If I contact a lawyer shouldn’t his first piece of advice is take me to the police station?

Earlier today we reported a college player getting arrested for a threatening text, this appears to be a lot more serious, but the authorities have not been called.

I am not saying Miss Bundy claims aren’t true, but they would hold more weight if as soon as she felt violated by Shannon Sharpe she went to the police.

Sharpe has not been handed any punishment by CBS (he shouldn’t because there are no criminal charges) and he will continue his duties on the NFL Today set.

*UPDATE*

Sharpe released a statement through CBS: “I have decided to step aside from the NFL Today until this matter is resolved.

The question begs how long will that be?

i'm with you on this – something is stinky about this story. celebrities and sex, it seems to go hand in hand (especially w. male celebrities). what have i learned from the media on this? if it's a guy, and he is supposedly having an affair? yeah. he did it. if it's a guy, and it's rape? the jury won't convict him. and that's with stronger cases. sometimes, it's obvious the accuser is either nutty or a gold digger. other times, i'm not so sure. perhaps the woman was starstruck but later had remorse, perhaps they were overwhelmed. perhaps the male celebrity is so used to willing women that he doesn't understand when he's crossing the line. and perhaps there is rape.

but not calling the cops at all? this sounds like extortion. i'm guessing, he totally had sex with this woman. perhaps multiple times. maybe she called it off and he kept calling. maybe he called it off and she got crazy. but in the end, her revenge is dragging his name through the mud and trying to earn a buck off him.

time and evidence will tell. i could be wrong, but from the outset, i think safe money will predict this

Mrs. Mundy is lying and so is her attorney. They want money from Mr. Sharpe botom line. If a man force a woman to have sex regardless if she's his wife, girlfriend, mistress, co-worker call the "POLICE" after the encounter. Mrs. Bundy did not and the stupid Judge should have thrown her complaint out of court immediately. This is a relationship gone bad on her part because he would not do want she wanted him to do. Probably marry her, or acknowledge her as a girlfriend or something. He made up these charges to ruin his character. These men need to really choose women wisely. Put your dam education that you received from college to work and conduct your own research into women that you like, men. You could hire a private investigator before going out with women you find attractive. Look at the price you are paying now for not doing your homework. The dollar price is now over millions of dollars for you falling to do your homework on relationships. The sex was not worth it. Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Shaq, Reggie Miller, Dwayne Wade, Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan. Baseball players, Basketball players etc..
