This has been out there for awhile and it has nothing to do with Football, but it appears it came to a boiling point at 49ers practice today.
Here is what happened:
Tight end Vernon Davis, one of the 49ers’ captains, had angry words for second-year wide receiver Michael Crabtree during practice Wednesday, prompting coach Mike Singletary to get involved in the dispute.
Afterward, Singletary said he dealt with the issue and feels confident it has been resolved. The disagreement was over a non-football issue, Singletary said.
“There is no more elephants in the room,” Singletary said. “The elephant was exposed.”
Singletary added, “I appreciate Vernon speaking from his heart, but it was just wrong. He, indeed, is every bit the reason why I made him captain. He’s not going to sugarcoat things. He doesn’t know how to sugarcoat things. I wish he did sometimes. But I appreciate what he was trying to do, but it was just wrong.”
So why do these young stars dislike each other?
Could it be that Davis is not a fan of Crabtree’s finger waves?
Or did Crabtree point out that Davis is playing kissing face with a woman who have been through half of the guys in the NBA and NFL?
If you read between the lines it is pretty obvious what is happening. Crabtree has a “primetime” mentality and Davis is an “emotional” guy.
Normally when you mix Hollywood with Craziness you get these types of confrontations.
Singletary I believe handled it properly and winning cures all, but just be aware if some of Crabtree DAX gets on Davis’ shoes the problem could always resurface.
