Anything you use in excess and inappropriately can lead to bigger problems.
Drugs, sex, food, money, alcohol and etc. Even if it is legal, if you use something in the wrong way you can harm yourself.
My position on steroids similar to marijuana is that it should be legal. Every study that shows harmful effects of steroids also points out that is when they are used incorrectly.
I don’t need a medical degree to tell me if I drink 20 beers (No Braylon) that it might be difficult for me to drive.
Brett Musburger feels the same way here is what he had to say about steroids and how he doesn’t trust the way the media is reporting about it.
Musburger, on the lead announcing team for ABC and ESPN, told students at the University of Montana that steroids have no place in high school athletics, but they could be used in the pros under the proper care and doctor’s advice.
“Here’s the truth about steroids: They work,” he said in a story reported by The Missoulian.
“I’ve had somebody say that, you know, steroids should be banned because they’re not healthy for you,” he told the students Tuesday. “Let’s go find out. What do the doctors actually think about anabolic steroids and the use by athletes? Don’t have a preconceived notion that this is right or this is wrong.”
Musburger said negative stories about steroids are mainly the fault of “journalism youngsters out there covering sports (who) got too deeply involved in something they didn’t know too much about.”
I think Musburger is absolutely correct. The use of steroids has been sensationalize to the point that the mere mention of the drug has negative overtones.
It is has been used especially in Baseball as a red herring about all that is wrong with the sport.
The truth if they aren’t using steroids, they are using something else that in undectable.
When the leagues catch up to that drug, they will start using something else.
If there is anything that players can use to find an edge, they will. Especially when we are talking about millions of dollars on the line.
If someone told me I could take a drug and it could guarantee me 10+ million dollars, but might cut a few years off my life I would be refilling my bottle right now.
Steroids is just a convenient excuse to use when other things go wrong in sports, but in reality there are much bigger issues. Believe that.
