The good news is that Vick didn’t break his collarbone or any of his ribs.
Bad news is that having damage to your rib cartilage is an extremely painful injury. It is an injury you can play through, but as a quarterback especially one that takes hits like Michael Vick, I would suspect that he will be out for a couple of weeks.
ProFootballtalk has more details:
Eagles coach Andy Reid says quarterback Michael Vick has a rib cartilage injury but not a broken rib, while running back LeSean McCoy did suffer a broken rib against the Redskins on Sunday.
“Michael Vick has a rib cartilage injury,” Reid said at his press conference today. “There are no broken bones, but he does have a rib cartilage injury. It’s up high in the second and third ribs. LeSean McCoy has a rib fracture and they’re doing some further tests on that but right now he has one rib fracture.”
Reid couldn’t confirm a time frame for Vick’s return, other than, “We’ll just see how he feels.”
Just a bad day all around for the Eagles.
Vick gets banged up, McCoy breaks a rib, Kevin Kolb looks like Captain Check and Donovan McNabb is douging his way back to DC with a smirk in his face.
Should be an interesting rest of the year for the NFC East.
