Troy Smith Starts For 49ers in London..Alex Smith Hurt..David Carr to the Bench

Alex Smith is out 2-3 weeks with a separated shoulder.

David Carr goes back to doing what he does best— holding a clipboard and collecting a check.

Troy Smith the former Ohio State Buckeye and Baltimore Raven, gets at least one week to show that he can be a NFL Quarterback.  Here is what Mike Singletary had to say about the move:

“Troy Smith gives us a good opportunity to win this game,” Singletary said. “He has enough of the offense to play.”

The 49ers have a bye week after playing in London, so this maybe Smith’s only shot.

I always thought he had the talent to be a starting QB, but he just hasn’t had the opportunity.  There are low expectations for the 49ers as their season is basically over.

The 49ers have talent, so Smith needs to embrace the opportunity and see it as an audition.

This American Idol, you only get one shot in front of Simon.
