Another awful story about someone falling at a sporting event.
Please be careful when you are by a railing or overhang at these venues.
A 23-year-old man died after falling from an upper area at Soldier Field during the Chicago Bears’ 31-26 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The Chicago Fire Department said the man, who has not been identified, was in the columns area of Soldier Field when he fell 50 feet and landed on the roof. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death.
Haverty was a skilled climber who enjoyed scaling buildings and trees, friends told the Chicago Sun-Times. He would have had to climb or fall over a three-foot high railing and fallen off a ledge of at least two feet. It has been reported that he purposely jumped over the railing, and friends told the newspaper that he may have been sneaking away to have a cigarette. Police at the scene called his death an accident, the Sun-Times reported.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Please if you are at these arenas do not play around the rails, they are very dangerous.
