Every boxer at some point get hits with the “Tarver Punch”.

For those unfamiliar with the “Tarver Punch” it refers to the blind punch that KO Roy Jones Jr and effectively ended his career as a dominant boxer.

When you get hit with a Tarver style punch only three things can happen:

1- You take the punch, come back strong and win the fight (see Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley Rd 2).

2- You get put to sleep or you lose, but you come back a stronger fighter (See Ali vs. Frazier 1).

3- You get put to sleep and you never recover (see Ricky Hatton or Jermain Taylor)

I am not sure what the future holds for Paul Williams, but any time a world class fighter is put to sleep with his eyes open, the chances he will never be the same.

The good news is that Williams appears to be ok, but I think this pic sums up his night.
