This is becoming more like the Young and Restless every day( no pun intended).
First Vince Young sends Jeff Fisher a text message apologizing for how he acted on Sunday. According to ESPN this is what the text said:
According to the report, Young’s text message thanked Fisher for the opportunity to play for the Titans, wished the team good luck for the rest of the season, asked for Fisher to have faith and confidence in him moving forward, and told Fisher that he and Young both want to win a Super Bowl.
You could say that Fisher didn’t accept the text apology. Here is what he had to say:
“I’m not a real big text guy. I’m not really into this new age stuff. I don’t twit or tweet, but I think face-to-face is a man thing,” Fisher said on Wednesday via TitansInsider.com.
Vince or his advisors shouldn’t have leaked the information to ESPN. This seemed more like a PR move than a sincere apology. If you are really sorry and you want to make things better, there is no need to send a press release to make sure everyone knows about it.
As far as Fisher, he could have just accepted the apology and kept it moving. Regardless of the motivation, Young did apologize. No need to challenge Young’s manhood like it was a duel in the Wild Wild West. Furthermore, if Young wanted to apologize man-to-man, that is hard to do that when you are locked out of the building.
Fisher is going out of his way to make Young look bad when he does a good enough job on his own—no need to throw gas on the fire.
Regardless of what Bud Adams or Vince Young do, Fisher doesn’t seem inclined to be the coach of the Titans if he is forced to have Young on the roster.
