It is common for players after an embarrassing game to throw out crazy predictions.
The reason they do that is more about trying to convince themselves their season isn’t in free fall. Sometimes it works, a lot of time it doesn’t, because in the end it is just talk.
Antrel Rolle wants everyone to know don’t count the Giants out just yet:
Rolle was asked whether he thought the Giants would still make the playoffs this season and Tom Rock of Newsday lets us know that he was more than willing to take the bait.
“I don’t think it, I know it,” Rolle said. “That’s because that’s what going to happen. I know it’s going to happen this weekend. I have no doubt. I said it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen.”
If the Giants beat the Packers, they are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs— so technically by guaranteeing a victory, he is killing two birds with one stone.
Rolle has had a good year, but he isn’t a big enough name that if the Giants lose anyone will remember this guarantee. So he doesn’t have anything to lose by puffing his chest out.
The Giants need more players like Rolle, who won’t back down.
