Before his Colorado ‘incident’, Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant was at the height of his marketability. While Bryant has redeemed himself and winning multiple championships since then, his marketability isn’t what it once was. Still, every athlete has to be able to market himself outside of their sport, that Roth IRA isn’t going to grow itself. So the idea of Bryant striking a deal with Turkish Airlines seems normal and benign. Well there are people in Canada that feel differently.
Kobe Bryant was greeted by a group of protesters outside of Air Canada Centre. The Canadian-Armenian youth seem to be extremely upset with Bryant’s deal with Turkish Airlines.
Armenia and Turkey have had very contentious relations since the 1900’s. I still don’t understand why they are upset at Kobe since he doesn’t have an Armenian background, unless the possibility of having Kim Kardashian as a side piece counts. Even then, I think Kobe’s wife would handle that and I don’t think it would involve an angry posterboard.
I don’t think the ire of the protesters will have any effect on Byant’s play when they face the Toronto Raptors this afternoon.
