Bengals owner Mike Brown said emphatically that he wasn’t going to trade Carson Palmer. It appears though Carson Palmer is not taking no for an answer (must be an AFC North thing).
His agent David Dunn released a statement that in essence said “GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!”
“Carson met with Bengals owner Mike Brown recently. They both expressed profound disappointment in how the team fared last season, and in how it has generally performed during Carson’s tenure with the team.
“Because of the lack of success that Carson and the Bengals have experienced together, Carson strongly feels that a separation between him and the Bengals would be in the best interest of both parties. Carson could not respect the Brown family any more than he does or be more appreciative of what the Browns have done for him and his wife Shaelyn and his family.”
Carson Palmer has four more years to his contract.
If this was Chad OchoCinco or Terrell Owens bellyaching about getting traded it would be an outage. Why should Palmer get “media protection”?
He is being paid over ten million dollars a year to be a franchise quarterback, but he wants to bail out on the franchise because it isn’t winning enough.
Here is a thought maybe the Bengals aren’t winners because their quarterback isn’t a franchise quarterback.
What he is saying is, it is too hard to win in Cincinnati and blaming the Bengals not himself for their failures, but when he agreed to take their money he agree to be an employee of the Bengals.
So if I am Mike Brown I say you either play for us or you don’t play at all.
