Nuggets Selling Carmelo Anthony’s Jersey 50% Off…Subliminal Message
As soon as Carmelo Anthony is traded, his Denver Nuggets jersey becomes worthless— except for throwback purposes 10 years from now. Is it possible that the Nuggets know the deal is going to be done soon, and that is why they are slashing prices like a Super Walmart.
Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
The explanation given at the Pepsi Center gift shops was “an excess of inventory,” but it was a harbinger if there ever was one — Carmelo Anthony jerseys, 50 percent off.
It’s quite possible that Melo played his last game at the Pepsi Center on Saturday night. No, Anthony has not officially said he would agree to a trade to New Jersey. But all this could happen within the week; Denver plays at San Antonio tonight and then comes back home Wednesday.
The plan remains for the Nuggets to cook up the deal, likely to the Nets, and present it to Anthony, who Saturday spoke about the Nuggets . . . and his future elsewhere.
I have to admit the jersey selling maybe more of a sign than anything the so called “insiders” have said over the last three months. If the Nuggets knew they are going to keep Melo the entire season, why cut the prices now?
Wouldn’t it make more sense to wait until the end of the year?
From now on, my inside source will be Jimmy the Jersey Vendor.
