Roger Mayweather Accepts Plea Deal in Melissa St. Vil Battery Case..No Jail Time
One of the theories that has been floated around was that Floyd Mayweather didn’t want to fight Manny Pacquiao without his uncle who is also his trainer Roger in his corner.
Roger Mayweather had been accused of strangling female boxer Melissa St. Vil and it put his availability in doubt.

Mayweather is a lucky man today as he accepts a plea deal that doesn’t include any jail time.
Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s uncle and trainer pleaded no contest Thursday to two misdemeanor battery charges in a plea deal that avoided a trial and jail time in a Las Vegas domestic battery case.
Roger Mayweather, 49, was sentenced to a year of probation, 24 weeks of domestic violence counseling, 50 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine for the Aug. 2, 2009, incident.
Trial had been set to begin Monday on felony battery charges alleging Mayweather beat and choked a female boxer he used to train at a Las Vegas apartment that he owned. Mayweather could have faced up to 10 years if convicted of the battery-strangulation and battery causing substantial bodily harm charges.
This all happened before Floyd Mayweather got into his legal troubles (must run in the family), but it does clear one hurdle in a potential mega fight between Mayweather Jr and Pacquiao.
I still believe the percentages are low that fight ever takes place, but a person can dream.
