In the power struggle between Vince Young and Jeff Fisher, Fisher wins and Young will be looking for new team in 2011.
The Titans have released a statement saying that Young will not be on the team in 2011, meaning that Fisher will be back as head coach.
As early as yesterday, it appears Fisher was on his way out, but Bud Adams after meeting with his advisers had a change of heart.
It should be pointed out that the majority of people within the Titans franchise including the players did not want Vince Young back on the team.
This goes way beyond what was happening on the field. It was Young’s attitude off the field that lead to this decision.
Here is what Bud Adams had to say:
“Today, I informed our general manager Mike Reinfeldt to move forward with plans to begin the process of identifying the next quarterback for our franchise. He will inform Vince Young’s agent that Vince will not be on our roster next season. I want to offer my personal thanks to Vince for all of his positive contributions to the club. These kinds of decisions are never easy and this is especially true for this particular player. I certainly wish that things would have worked out better, but I think it is best for the franchise that we move on at this point.
“I also informed Jeff (Fisher) today that I was continuing the evaluation of the coaching staff and I am hoping to make a decision soon.”
Doesn’t look like Fisher is safe either. It could be Bud Adams cut ties with everyone. This story is definitely not over.
