Both Berry and Spiller had their special moments during their rookie season. It appears both players are in for long and productive NFL careers.
Adidas is going to help them with that by providing them with what they say are the lightest cleats ever made.
Check out the details:
SAN ANTONIO – adidas unveiled the new adizero 5-Star today, the lightest football cleat ever made. At 6.9 ounces, the new adidas cleat is three ounces lighter than the nearest competitor and designed to help make the fastest football players even faster.
The top high school football players in the country will wear the adizero 5-Star during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Select players from the U.S. Army National Combine will test the new adizero 5-Star in the adidas speed workout with Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller on Friday, January 7 at the Alamodome.
“Speed kills in this game. It’s that simple,” said C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills running back and Army All-American Bowl alum. “The adizero 5-Star is the lightest cleat I’ve ever worn and no doubt it makes me faster on the field. When you’re out there, just a half step can be the difference between fourth and one and a touchdown.”

The adzero 5-Star features a revolutionary single-layer synthetic upper called SPRINTSKIN and a sprint frame base, which significantly reduces the weight of the shoe while providing the perfect balance between lightweight construction and increased support. Internal TPU support bands offer increased stability for quick cuts and changes of direction on the field. New triangular-shaped cleats provide players with maximum acceleration and traction.
“No other cleat compares to the new adizero 5-Star,” said Mark Daniels, director of football at adidas. “The ultra lightweight design is built for players who want maximum speed and maximum support, especially skill position players who use their quickness and agility to create plays for their team. Speed and acceleration is everything in today’s game and a split second cut or quick start off the line is what makes today’s face-paced game so exciting to play and watch.”
“adidas created the lightest cleat in the game to help players be faster on the field,” Daniels said. “We’re excited to see the adizero 5-Star in action this weekend with the best players in the country wearing the 5-Star on field at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the premier national stage for the most electrifying high school players.”
The adizero 5-Star will be available in April for $100 in seven colorways at Eastbay, Dick’s Sporting Goods, www.shopadidas.com and adidas team dealers. Football players and fans can visit www.facebook.com/adidasfootballUS for more information.
In November, adidas and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl announced a partnership that makes adidas the exclusive footwear, compression apparel and glove supplier for the 2011 high school football all-star game. Players participating in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl will wear the adizero 5-Star, TECHFIT compression apparel and the new adizero football gloves. More than 100 alumni of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl are currently playing in the NFL including adidas athletes C.J. Spiller of the Buffalo Bills, Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs and Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints.
