Sanders was the Bill Walton of the NFL.

When he was healthy, he was one of the best players in the league, unfortunately he was never healthy.  It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say that if Sanders would have had good health, a few of the Colts early playoff exists might have been avoided.

Colts owner Bob Irsay released this statement.

We have released Bob Sanders today. We thank Bob 4 all his incredible contributions from his Sup Bowl pic 2 def player of year honors.

Sometimes it just isn’t meant to be.  At least his has a Super Ring and Defensive Player of the Year on his resume, but you will always wonder what could have been.

I am sure he will get a shot somewhere else, but expectations will be low.
