I don’t know why the Bengals seem hell bent on keeping Ocho (or is it Johnson now) around. They don’t seem to care for him, they throw him under the bus consistently and in reality just don’t seem to appreciate what he has brought to the table over the years.
What exactly he has brought to the table on/off field is debatable, but when healthy he has been a productive player, no one denies that.
The Bengals are like a boyfriend who doesn’t like his girlfriend, but rather be miserable with her than allow her to be happy elsewhere. Darrelle Revis who was working for OCNN during Super Bowl week made his pitch for Ocho to come to the NYC.
“I want Chad to come here and play for us, to be a Jet,” Revis told New York Metro reporter Kristian Dyer in the days leading up to the Super Bowl. “I’ve been in his ear a lot about it this week. … I think he could do well here. I’ve been telling him to come here.”
Interestingly the Jets are stacked at Wide Receiver (Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Brad Smith & Jerricho Cotchery), unfortunately only Cotchery is under contract for next year. Since the Jets will franchise middle linebacker David Harris, one of those receivers won’t be back (maybe two).
While I don’t think it would happen, I do think Chad needs to go to a place that allows his full personality to be free. He is a better player when that happens. When his enthusiasm and over the top nature is stifled it affects his game. Unlikely to be the Jets, but he can dream.
