Fans pay good money and should be allow to boo and taunt the opposing team players, but there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed.

Easy to say things as a fan you wouldn’t have the nerve to say face to face.

That should be the general rule, if you wouldn’t say it to the player’s face then don’t say it at all. Lebron had an issue with a Detroit Pistons’ fan and here is how he handle it.

With his two young sons sitting courtside, Miami Heat forward LeBron James made a personal plea to a taunting fan for decorum during the first quarter of Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

“I don’t care what you say to me. I don’t give a [expletive] what you say,” James said to the fan. “But don’t be disrespectful.”

The fan had heckled James about his mother, using a Valentine’s Day reference.

Lebron can’t tell a fan to be respectful while cursing at him, sort of defeats the purpose.

I am assuming this had something to do with Delonte West or whatever the case would be, have a little respect. Just because they are athletes, doesn’t mean you have carte blanche to say whatever you want cause you are protected by being in the stands.

Don’t be a studio gangster.

i am quite sure that if someone made a disrespectful comment about your kids grandmother, your mother, you would not reply in a ' nice loving manner'.

Just don't be disrespectful. Hmmmmm… I wonder if that statement could apply to LeBron's actions in any way. Hmm…

Nick, are you stupid, what does his actions have to do with it? Did he do anything to the pistons fans. It's also about respect, his mother doesn't play ball, so why bring her in it.

Way to go, Lebron! Love you, man!

  5. Lown says:

I'm tired of Lebron but everyone should be respectful. PERIOD

As I notified the NBA home office, in New York there was a rumor of bookies trying to influence a game, where heavy betting was going all one way, i.e., The Heat. The method was to send in goons to heckle the player with family comments, personal comments, etc, to get into his head, to throw off his play, FOR JUST ONE NIGHT, and the illegal creeps would make a big score. The games I heard it were for the Knicks in the days when they were perennial playoff contenders. Throw any bum out that in any way mentions the personal life of any of the players or coaches.

I heard the fan said "is your mom going to Boston for valetine's day"…and LeBron got all upset..makes you womnder if the rumors about Deonte West "breaking lamps" with LeBron's mom may be true…lol

It’s hard to find knowledgeable people on this topic, but you sound like you know what you’re talking about.
