When in doubt blame everything on your mom.
Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib has been in trouble for as long as his name has been on the National Radar. It isn’t surprising he is caught up in some drama involving guns, domestic abuse and his mom going O-Dog allegedly.
The story goes that Talib’s sister was being abused by her common law husband, so Talib and his mom decided to give out some street justice. As oppose to calling the police or getting the sister out of the situation, shots were fired and both Talib and his mom were arrested.
Talib is proclaiming his innocence while throwing his mom under the bus, here are the details.
Although Talib’s attorneys declined comment Wednesday, privately he’s been adamant that he did not fire a weapon during the domestic disturbance. Talib told Clint Bowen, a co-defensive coordinator during his career at the University of Kansas, that only his mom pulled the trigger.
“I talked to Aqib two days ago,” Bowen said. “I told him, ‘I just read something about you firing a gun.’ He said, ‘Man, I didn’t do a thing. It’ll all come out soon.’ He just kept saying that…He said, ‘I didn’t do that. That was my mom. It’s all going to come out.”’
It could definitely be true that mom is the real gangster of the family, but if I was Talib I wouldn’t be running my mouth to defensive coordinators or anyone else for that matter.
He is very lucky that a lockout is going on, because these type of offenses, along with his past transgressions would have probably gotten him a long suspension from Roger Goodell.
