We were one of the first to report on the Deadspin accusation that Patriots safety had shot two people during a brawl on Febuary 27th.

Deadspin Reports Patriots Brandon Meriweather Shoots Two Men After Brawl.

I cautioned at the time to wait to more information came out before jumping to conclusions. We have more information now, and it makes the story even more confusing.

The Orange County Sheriff’s office confirmed to the Boston Herald that Meriweather was indeed present at the time of the shooting.

“We will continue to provide information that is available for release when proper to do so, and in a timely manner,” the office said in a statement released Thursday afternoon, noting the investigation was open.

Here are the facts that we know.

A shooting did take place, Meriweather was in attendance, multiple fights happened and the men shot have identified Meriweather as the shooter.

Here are the questions we need answers to:

What are the police doing?  Two people get shot and one of them in the head, but no one even knew an investigation was ongoing? Sounds really shady.

We know Meriweather was involved in some way—according to some, he was trying to be a peacemaker. To others, he was O-Dog from Menace 2 Society.

We know now it isn’t a hoax and it is a serious matter, but as of right now, Meriweather still gets the benefit of the doubt.

  1. Ray Lewis is not pleased.

Ray Lewis just passed him his lawyer's number. Ray just wish he shot 'em dead like he did.
